Resolution

Electrical appliances must always be installed by a competent person, some appliances require installation by certified installers.

We (and most others in the industry) don't include the cabling for our Induction hobs for a number of reasons:

1. A supplied cable may not be long enough, which then means it would need to be removed and a suitable cable length would need purchased separately. If the cable was too long, the cable would need cut.  If the cut cable was then re-used, there may be damage done which could impact the performance and safety of the cable.

2. The cut cable could very well end up in landfill if not re-used which has a negative impact on the environment.

3. It is recommended that qualified electricians should be installing electrical appliances. They will typically carry cabling and will be able to assess the customers requirements on an individual basis before installation. Qualified installers will also be very aware of any changes when it comes to installation standards and official requirements when it comes to installing appliances, such as hob to hood distances or required distances surrounding the hob. Not following new guidelines may impact the warranty of the appliance and some household insurance policies.

Qualified Electricians will purchase cabling at most electrical dedicated shops on the high street or trusted online retailers. The information on they type of cabling required can be found in the instruction manual supplied with the appliance or it can be accessed using the link below.  An example of what the page may look like in the manual is shown below.
